Get ready to get comfy with a pair of glerups winter slippers for women. These unique slippers are made for cozying up inside on cold winter days and their natural properties are your benefit. Read on to learn more about the magic of glerups slippers.
Even though Denmark is a small country, we have a special thing that we take pride in – a word, only found in the Danish language, “hygge”. The word that comes closest to it in the English language is “cozy”, and yet, cozy doesn’t fully cover it. You see, “hygge” is a word or concept with many meanings. It can range from describing a child and their grandparent playing a game, to two friends having a coffee and a laugh after work or simply just staying inside all by yourself on a rainy day enjoying some time in your own company.
Basically, hygge means to relax and just let time fly, while you unwind and maybe do something with someone you care about. A Dane can find hygge anywhere, it’s a part of our mentality to be able to make any situation “hyggelig”. And actually, winter is like a national hygge-period in Denmark, as the weather beckons us to stay inside in the warmth and relax after being out in the cold. Ask a Dane, what hygge means and a common response will be that it is a situation, where you are utmost comfortable – and this is where glerups enter the scene.
With a pair of glerups winter slippers, you are well on your way to experience the true meaning of hygge. The softness of the wool and the sturdy sole of the slipper makes it an essential winter accessory, along with warm blankets, thick socks and hot beverages. Originated in Denmark, glerups adheres to the Danish design philosophy of making something that is simple, functional and elegant. And glerups winter slippers fit right into that description. The simplistic aesthetics, the multifaceted usage and the discreet elegance of the design all sum up the essence of a pair of glerups winter slippers.
Inspired by Scandinavian nature, the color scheme of the slippers are found in the Nordic outdoors. And so, you can easily find the color that fits into your personal style, whether you want an eye-catching color like sunset red or north sea blue, or you want to go with a more subtle color like gray, black or sand. There are two types of soles on our slippers – leather and rubber. Leather soles are for indoor usage and rubber is for outdoor usage. We do not recommend using the rubber soles during harsh snow storms, but for a walk in the forest on a beautiful fall day day, they are perfect.
The wool used for our winter slippers is very unique. Consisting of wool from Danish Gotland sheep and wool from New Zealand, this blend is the cornerstone of glerups production of footwear. And for a good reason – this wool blend isn’t just soft, it is also packed with natural properties to ensure you the best possible experience of comfort while wearing them. This wool blend has the ability to keep your feet from freezing, when those winter days really kick in, but they are also able to keep your feet comfortably cool on warmer days. And if you deal with sweaty feet, it will not be an issue with a pair of glerups winter slippers, as the wool is able to absorb any odor that might occur. Then you just let your shoes rest outdoors in the fresh air for a short while, and they will feel fresh and good as new. For more information on how to maintain your winter slippers from glerups, read here.
The wool blend also has the special ability that its molecular structure is close to the structure of our skin, meaning that even when worn for longer periods of time, these slippers will not irritate your skin, as slippers from other materials might. All in all, this is a slipper that won’t let you down.
glerups origin story almost reads as a modern day fairytale. It all began when Nanny Glerup decided to take a class in felting at her local community center. It wasn’t expensive to join and she liked the thought of being able to produce something that could be used in everyday life. With that in mind, she made her husband a pair of boot slippers as a gift and token of her love for him. Not only did Ove appreciate this – he was almost obsessed with the boots, as they felt so comfortable and soon, he would wear them everywhere. Soon, everyone around them were interested in getting a pair of slippers and to keep up with production, Nanny and Ove bought a farm with room for a workshop for Nanny and also some sheep, so they could be self-providing in wool. Things took off from here and today glerups is recognized all over the world for their high quality footwear.
As they say, winter is coming – and this could be the winter where you treat your feet to the ultimate pampering with a pair of glerups winter slippers. Take a look around the website and find the perfect match for you and your feet.
