Slippers made with the finest wool blend

At glerups, we adhere to more than 30 years of craftsmanship and tradition, when producing our slippers. The wool used to make glerups slippers is a natural blend of wool from Danish Gotland sheep and high quality wool from New Zealand. This mix is almost magical, as it provides warmth on cold days during winter, but helps to keep the feet cool during warm summer days. 

The versatility comes from the molecular structure of the fibers in the wool, as they are able to both transport heat away from the skin, keep heat inside the slipper and also absorb excess humidity, which gives added comfort to the wearer of them. In addition to this, the structure of the fibers are in close resemblance to the structure of human skin, which causes them to be extra comfortable, as they do not irritate the skin as slippers in other materials might. It is indeed the gift that keeps on giving.

Following the origin of glerups

The story of how glerups started almost seems like something from a fairytale. Founder Nanny Glerup attended a felting class, in which she lovingly made her husband Ove a pair of slippers. He was touched by this gesture, but also surprised at how comfortable the slippers were. Soon, he wore them everywhere and Nanny began getting more and more requests to make slippers for those around her. Ove soon had the idea of purchasing a small farm in the Northern part of Denmark, where Nanny could have a workshop and he also purchased some sheep, so they would have material for slippers at hand. Slowly, but surely, the popularity of these slippers started to grow and now, it is a worldwide business with loyal fans across the globe.
