The original felt shoe from Denmark

What started as a hobby for Nanny Glerup, who initially just made her husband a pair of felted house shoes for her husband, Ove, is today a business that receives orders from all over the world. Originating from Denmark, glerups follow in the footsteps of great designers, who all had the Danish design philosophy in mind. Taking inspiration from nature, letting the material speak for itself and creating something simple, functional and elegant, glerups check all the boxes of Danish design. Our felted wool slippers are simple in their expression, without a lot of extra accessories. Just woolen shoes in three different styles made from some of the best materials that nature itself has given us. 

The natural properties of the slippers mean that they can be used all year round, both on warm and cool days. They also come with two different types of soles, leather and natural rubber. Leather is for the person who spends most of their leisure time inside, while the natural rubber sole is for those who enjoy spending time outside. 

And lastly, they have a subtle elegance to them. Their lines are simple and the colors are kept in neutral tones with inspiration from Nordic nature, also adding to their functionality as they fit easily into any wardrobe or style. 

Felted shoes with natural properties

What really makes glerups wool house shoes stand out from other slippers is the wool blend that we use. While adhering to the traditional craftsmanship in making the shoes, we have kept refining our wool blend into what it is today. Being a mix of wool from Danish Gotland sheep and wool from New Zealand, this blend is packed with natural properties ensuring you the most comfortable experience when wearing them. Firstly, this wool blend is not only soft and provides maximum comfort – it has the ability to keep your feet warm on cold days, but also to keep your feet cool on warmer days, making them perfect for wearing all year round. 

They absorb excess heat and moisture, so your feet feel fresh even after wearing them for a long period of time. Got problems with bad odor from your feet? It won’t be a problem with glerups wool house shoes, as the wool absorbs that too. Both moisture and odor will be released, when you let the shoes rest a bit, preferably outside, where they can get some fresh air. This leads us to another benefit of our footwear in general – they are not made to only last a single season and then need to be replaced.
